What is neorealism?

November 30, 2015

Neorealism in film refers to works that represent an authentic, natural view of the world. The work is usually done on location with non-professional actors, and is framed within a social context. The results tend to look more documentary-like than traditional Hollywood, with longer takes and a propensity toward wideshots. Some excellent films have been made with this style; Amores perros, Tokyo Story, Bicycle Thieves, and The 400 Blows to name a few. http://ift.tt/1lLzhRn
